2008-2009 OS Section Activities
With the fast growth of the AOGS, the Ocean Science section (OS) is an important part of AOGS that is also expanding quickly and currently has over 300 members. In this context, an idea to form an OS subcommittee was initiated during the 2008 OS Business Meeting in Busan at the 5th AOGS annual assembly. The OS subcommittee is intended to further promote OS in Asian-Oceania, and to achieve better networking and interactions between scientists from AO nations/regions and non-AO nations. Among other things, it is anticipated that this subcommittee will promote and organize special sessions for OS at future AOGS annual assemblies.
The current OS subcommittee is for the term between 2008 and 2009. The members of the OS subcommittee were nominated by individual OS scientists. The Business Meeting of OS Section at the 2009 AOGS conference will discuss the OS subcommittee, review its function and ideas for future development, offer an opportunity for new members to be proposed, and hopefully approve the members and chair of the subcommittee for the next year. The current subcommittee will thus meet prior to the Business Meeting.
