About Hyderabad
Hyderabad, the capital of Andhra Pradesh is the second largest metro of India,
known for its rich history and culture with monuments, mosques, temples, and
a rich and varied heritage in arts, crafts and dance.
The city is over 400 years old and is noted for its natural beauty, mosques
and minarets, bazaars and bridges, hills and lakes. It is perched on the top
of the Deccan Plateau, 1776ft., above sea level, and sprawls over an area of
260 square kilometers and home to more than 6 million people.
Hyderabad has developed into a major hub for the information technology
industry in India and the city is home to the world's largest film studio, the
Ramoji Film City. It is also a sporting destination and various national and
international games are conducted here.
Residents of Hyderabad are called Hyderabadis. The city is regarded as a
blend of traditionality with modernity. Known as the City of Pearls, Hyderabad
is also famous for its Hyderabadi cuisine, handicrafts and textiles, its gems and
its jewelry, especially pearls.
