Detailed Itinerary
Yangmingshan National Park is located just to the north of Taipei and is easily accessible from the city. After an hour's drive, stops will be made at volcano site and Yangming Park.
1. Visitor Center
The explanation and display spaces at the visitor center are divided into the following five functional sections: front lobby, cultural exhibition hall, special exhibition hall, ecological exhibition hall, audiovisual room, and rear lobby. The counter at the front lobby provides an information enquiry and publication sale service. The enquiry service provides both over-the-counter and phone enquiry services include trail information, recommendations for itineraries, guides, and easy first-aid medication etc. At the rear lobby, there is a 3D map of the entire area, a computer automatic tour guide system, and toilets.
Exhibits displayed at the Ecology Exhibition Hall fall into the following 3 categories:
- Natural and ecological landscapes
- Slide display area
- Volcano and geological models
In the nature and ecological landscaping area, visitors can experience the natural environment surrounding the trail with the nature and ecological landscaping. In the volcano model area the origin of Datun Volcanoes, volcanic landscapes and mineral resources, and the post-volcanic activities are added in the form of slides in addition to volcano eruption models which are the favorite of children to present the unique volcanic geology of Taiwan.
2. Hsiaoyukeng is the best-known recreation site in Yangmingshan National Park, and offers some of the most typical scenery. Located above the Tatung Bridge along the Yangmingshan-Chinshan Highway, Hsiaoyukeng is at an elevation of 800 meters and contains a host of volcanically-created fumaroles, sulfur crystals, hot springs, and landslides. Sulfur vents noisily spew forth gases, and hot springs discharge endless streams of boiling water. The bright yellow sulfur crystals that can be seen here are exceptionally lovely. Mt. Chihsing provides breathtaking views in all directions.
3. Chingtienkang is a terrace formed by lava flowing to the north from Mt. Chukao. This flat area is today an undulating grassland several kilometers across surrounded on all sides by mountain peaks higher than 800 met Taiwan Handicraft Promotion Center established in 1957, is a non-profit social purpose organization dedicated to the development and promotion of the handicraft industry in Taiwan.
