Dakgalbi
Dakgalbi also known as spicy stir fried chicken is one of the locals’ favourite specialty food. Based with gochujang (chilli pepper paste) sauce and pieces of diced chicken, which are then stir fried in a cast iron pan with various vegetables such as sweet potatoes, cabbage, perilla leaves and rice cake.
To end off the meal, order a bowl of fried rice when you are almost finished. The waiter will then mix the rice with the leftover sauce which is supposedly to be the best part of the meal!

Makguksu
During the summer, cold noodle dishes are especially popular and a great substitution to heavy meals. Makgusu is very similar to Naengmyeon – the most famous cold noodle dish in Korea. The difference is cold buckwheat noodles are used in Makguksu which are slightly thicker and tougher. This dish is served with chilled beef or vegetable broth and can be customised based on your preference.

Samgyetang
One of Korea’s most famous traditional dish is the ginseng chicken soup. Primarily, it consists of a whole young chicken that is filled with rice, garlic, jujube and ginseng. Despite the hot weather in the summer, Samgyetang is considered as of the top comfort food for Koreans during this season. Additionally, it is believed that eating samgyetang on these days would promote health.
In certain restaurants, this dish is accompanied with a complimentary shot of insam-ju (ginseng wine). Tosokchon Samgyetang is a highly reputable Korean ginseng chicken restaurant in Seoul. After visiting, you can head over to Gyeongbokgung palace which is located just five minutes away.

Korean Beef
Korean Beef (Han Woo) from Gangwon Province is widely sold and loved by the locals in Korea. Beef from this area is recognised as the finest in the country. Bibimbap
“Bibim” means mixing while “Bap” refers to the rice. The Korean rice dish is served in a hot stone pot with a bowl of rice topped with seasoned vegetables, Kimichi and Gochujang. Common additions would include sliced meat and a raw or fried egg. The dish is then stirred thoroughly just before eating.
There are different variations of Bibimbap in different regions of South Korea, with
Jeonju, Jinju and Tongyeong versions being especially famous. In 2011, the dish was listed in the World's 50 most delicious foods readers' poll compiled by CNN Travel.

Patbingsu
Patbingsu is a popular Korean dessert made from shaved ice. Originally, the dessert started out as shaved ice with red bean paste. In contemporary culture, a variety of interesting flavours and types of bingsu were introduced. This includes sweet toppings such as chopped fruit, condensed milk and fruit syrup.
