Revealing the unknown: the importance of null results in advancing science

Su Nee serves as the Deputy Director and Lead of the Open Science and Research Services Team at the Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) Library. Previously, she led the Research Data Management (RDM) Team, strategizing and delivering RDM support services to help NTU researchers meet funders, publishers, and institutional requirements. In 2016, she collaborated with institutional stakeholders to develop the NTU Research Data Policy and the NTU data management planning (DMP) template. Her team successfully launched the institutional open access research data repository in 2017. Su Nee played a key role in research data classification, initiated a closed storage platform for non-open research data, developing RDM e-learning modules, and initiating NTU’s CoreTrustSeal certification application for its open data repository. In 2020, she delivered a webinar titled “Building Capabilities for RDM Services” to 60 participants from 12 countries in COAR-Asia, and spoke on institutional research data repositories and sensitive data to a national audience in Singapore. She co-chaired the COAR Asia Open Access Annual Meeting 2021 and was an invited speaker for "Kickstarting Open Science with Institutional Research Data Support' for Malaysian librarians and data stewards. She was the Co-Chair of the Singapore Open Research Conference 2022, where prizes were awarded to the recipients of the inaugural NTU Open Research Awards. She is also a member of the 2024 Singapore Open Research Conference Steering Committee, co-organized by six local universities. Additionally, she led the initiative for the inaugural Singapore Open Research Awards in 2024. She also serves as a Co-Chair of the Libraries for Research Data Interest Group in the Research Data Alliance.
