“NASA Earth Science Division Status and Plan”

Tsengdar LEE1#+, Jack KAYE2

1NASA, 2NASA Earth Science Division

NASA’s Earth Science Division (ESD) maintains an active fleet of orbiting satellites to study the Earth system. The flight program within ESD develops future satellite missions through directed or competed mechanisms. Many of those missions involve substantial interagency and/or international partnerships. We will review the current status of our orbiting fleet and the new missions under development. We will discuss the current planning and activities in implementing the 2017 Decadal Survey from the National Academy of Sciences. We will also discuss how the research and analysis (R&A), technology, applied science together with the flight programs are supporting our ambition to study Earth as an integrated system and to transition research into applications that benefit the society.
