AOGS MEDAL LECTURES
Medal Lectures are delivered by winners of the Axford Medal Award and Wing-Ip Medal Award. The AOGS Axford Medal acknowledges an individual for outstanding achievements in geosciences, including planetary and solar system science, as well as unselfish cooperation and leadership in Asia and Oceania.
The AOGS establishes the AOGS Wing IP Medal in honour of Professor Wing-Huen IP, world renowned astronomer specializing in cometary physics; solar system plasma physics; solar system origin and planet formation; planetary atmospheres and exospheric systems. Together with Sir Ian Axford, Professor Yohsuke Kamide and Professor Wing-Huen Ip are the three major founders of the AOGS.

AOGS DISTINGUISHED LECTURES – SPONSOR ONE OR MORE SECTIONS
Distinguished Lecturers are selected primarily on the basis of their excellent, sustained scientific records. Normally there will be two Society Distinguished Lectures at each annual AOGS meeting as well as two Distinguished Lectures per Section.
Out of the two Distinguished Section Lectures (DL) in each AOGS Section every year, one shall be delivered by an early career researcher including post-doctoral researchers under the title Kamide Lecture KL).
The Society Distinguished Lectures are named "Axford Lectures" in honour of Sir Ian Axford. The Distinguished Lecture by Early Career Researcher is named Kamide Lecture in honour of Professor Kamide. Together with Professor Wing-Huen Ip, Sir Ian Axford and Professor Yohsuke Kamide are the three major founders of AOGS.
